Over the last few days, we have received multiple questions asking if there are checkpoints located throughout Colorado Springs to see if people are in compliance with, or violating, the Stay-at-Home Order. The answer is no. CSPD officers are not proactively pulling people over, or conducting checkpoints, for simply being out and about. The only reason an officer will contact you is if they believe a criminal or traffic offense has occurred.

We've also been asked about how we are monitoring/enforcing the Stay-at-Home Order. For the CSPD, our goal is to focus on education and voluntary compliance. While citations, fines, or jail are possible for violating the order, local public health staff and law enforcement would rather rely on education and outreach to correct violations. We encourage community members to voluntarily comply with the Stay-at Home-Order for their safety, the safety of their families, friends, and neighbors.

We hope that this provides some clarification to our community. As updates continue, we will provide prompt updates.
