Parents, we know it's a challenge to keep your kids home, or even to get them to listen about about the importance of social distancing, but we need your help. This is serious.

Kids may think this Stay At Home Order doesn't apply to them, but it does. When they’re out at the parks in groups, playing pick-up basketball, hanging out in the hot tub or piling onto the couch for a movie night, it makes it much harder for us to fight the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Even if they’re healthy, they could easily be spreading disease.

We know keeping them away from their friends might feel impossible, but at the very least, they need to spread out, keep their distance (six feet or more) and keep each other safe from sickness.

If you haven't already, please talk to your kids about how important this is. Every one of us has a role to play if we want COVID-19 to become a distant memory and get back to normal. Yes, even our young, healthy, social teenagers play a part in stopping the spread of coronavirus in our community.

If you don't know where to start in terms of talking to your teens about COVID-19, take a look at this article from our friends at Jefferson County Public Health. They have some great tips and strategies to get the conversation started:
