Due to the current and forecasted weather conditions, Fountain Fire Chief, James Maxon, has determined the fire danger is at a high level and therefore the City of Fountain will be in Stage II fire restrictions effective Monday, August 24, 2020.

Stage II Fire Restrictions PROHIBIT the following acts within the City of Fountain:
• Recreational Fires/Bonfires
• Charcoal grills/outdoor wood burning stoves
• Outdoor smoking is only allowed in an enclosed vehicle or building
• Sale or use of fireworks
• Outdoor blasting, welding or use of acetylene or other torch with open flames other than in an area cleared of all flammable materials.

The Restrictions ALLOW the following acts within the City of Fountain:
• Fires contained within liquid-fueled or gas-fueled stoves

The Order remains in effect until rescinded. Violations of Stage II Fire Restrictions in the City of Fountain may result in a fine up to $1000.

Fire Chief Maxon stated, “It is important for the City of Fountain to follow the same burn ban as El Paso County and Colorado Springs to reduce confusion about open burning and to keep our citizens safe”

The Fountain Fire Department urges all citizens of and visitors to Fountain to abide by the Order and share in the responsibility of keeping our community safe. Please report any suspected violations of the Order by calling 719-390-5555.
