On #WhyWeServeWednesday, we present why Deputy Bryant enjoys serving his community:

"I consider myself a lifelong learner. After retiring from the military, I was in search of a second meaningful career. At that point, I was fairly new to the community and decided to attend the Sheriff's Office Citizens' Academy. While interacting with fellow citizens from all walks of life and El Paso County Sheriff's Office personnel, I realized that I wanted to serve my community as a Deputy Sheriff.

Putting on the uniform was a humbling experience and has taught me more tolerance, patience, and better people skills. No day is like the other; every experience is new, and the learning curve is never-ending. Community members are faced with a multitude of issues, and while serving them, I hope to contribute to making our community a safer place to live and enjoy.

I currently work at the El Paso County Jail as a Floor Security Deputy Sheriff and I also have the privilege of serving as a member of the Honor Guard. While representing the Office at numerous events, I often have the opportunity to mingle with community members whose overwhelmingly positive feedback confirms my decision to become a deputy sheriff: It is good to serve!

After 9 years of serving with the sheriff's office. I still learn new things on a daily basis and have not given up on the idea of making a small difference in people's lives. Serving others is a very gratifying feeling, even on the most challenging of days. I am honored to be part of this hard-working and dedicated team that serves a deserving community and hope to continue to learn from my mentors and peers inside and outside of the Office.

I serve because not serving is not an option for me."
