Today, two of our former sheriffs will have their names added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. as historical line-of-duty deaths. Sheriff John McKee died in 1918 from injuries from an assault. Sheriff Joe Tucker died in 1950 after the plane he was piloting crashed while he was taking a woman back to her home in Minnesota. Current Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor petitioned to have their names added to the memorial. The virtual candlelight vigil honoring both men and other law enforcement killed in the line of duty will be aired tonight at 6 p.m. at https://nleomf.org.
