Starting on Monday, May 18, Old Meridian Road will be closed north of US Highway 24 for road reconstruction. El Paso County Department of Public Works’ contractor, Kiewit Infrastructure Company, will reconstruct approximately 600 feet of Old Meridian Road south of the new roundabout at the McLaughlin Road, Old Meridian Road and Rolling Thunder intersection. Bank and library access will remain open during construction using a temporary access constructed off Old Meridian Road just north of US 24.
Road closures and detour routes will change to accommodate the new work zone on Old Meridian Road and reopen a portion of McLaughlin Road. The traffic pattern described below will start on Monday, May 18 and remain in place for approximately three months:
• Old Meridian Road will be closed between US 24 and Meridian Road for phase 2 construction – use Meridian Road and McLaughlin Road to access Woodmen Road and bypass the construction zone.
• Access to High Prairie Library and Farmers State Bank only will be provided through a temporary access constructed off Old Meridian Road just north of US 24.
• Access to Bartlett Hay will be through Chicago Avenue via McLaughlin Road.
• Rolling Thunder remains closed between Old Meridian Road and Meridian Road – use Meridian Road to access Woodmen Road and bypass the work zone.
The project is anticipated to be completed in late Fall 2020. Future updates will be provided as the project transitions through different phases.
