COVID-19 UPDATE | JULY 14, 2020

Dr. Leon Kelly, Deputy Medical Director of El Paso County Public Health, gave a thorough update on COVID-19 to the Board of County Commissioners. Dr. Kelly covered the current status of COVID-19 in El Paso County and our most recent local data, as well as shared a Call to Action for residents of El Paso County. Here are some key takeaways from today's presentation:

Data and Local Trends

• Current 14-day incidence in El Paso County is roughly 103 per 100,000, or 735 new cases in two weeks. This is one of the key metrics the Colorado Department of Public health and Environment (CDPHE) uses to measure disease burden in a community
• There are three different incidence levels: Low, Medium and High. El Paso County is currently in the "High" range which means we have a positivity rate less than 15 percent and stable or declining hospitalizations. El Paso County can have a maximum indoor capacity of 50 and a maximum outdoor capacity of125.
• El Paso County is seeing a steady increase in cases over the past three weeks, and trending toward the younger demographic
• We're seeing increasing turnaround times for test results
• Local hospitalizations are trending up

A Call to Action

• El Paso County Public Health is urging our community to action now to stop the spread of COVID-19:

1. Wear a mask, when in public and in close proximity others
2. Practice social distancing
3. Wash hands frequently with soap and water
4. Stay home if you are sick
5. Keep gatherings small
