ARREST MADE IN ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE

On August 20, 2020 at approximately 12:38 a.m., a Pueblo police officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Lake Avenue at a high rate of speed. The driver stopped at an area hospital. The driver exited his vehicle and had blood all over his face and hands, yelling for help. The driver indicated he had been shot in the face.

Officers determined that the shooting had occurred near Sunset Park Elementary School (110 University Circle). The suspect vehicle approached the victim and shot at him several times. The victim drove himself to the hospital for treatment.

Several suspects were located at a residence in the 1900 block of E. 5th Street. During the investigation, 22-year-old Orlando Duran was identified as the shooter in this case. Duran was arrested on Attempted 1st Degree Homicide charges. Additional charges are possible in this case.

The victim was transported to a hospital in Colorado Springs with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
