POLICE RECOGNIZE COMMUNITY YOUTH FOR GOOD DEEDS

The Pueblo Police Department’s School Resource and Patrol Officers are recognizing young people for their helpful, responsible citizenship and making a good decision through “We Saw That” awards.

The new program recognizes young people in the community who perform a good deed or random act of kindness. Students observed doing something helpful, going above and beyond to be responsible, or making a good decision will receive a “We Saw That” award. The award is given by police officers and is a $10 voucher that can be redeemed at Pueblo Baskin Robbins location.

“Youth carry out good deeds every day in Pueblo,” stated Sergeant Furbush at the Pueblo Police Department. Sergeant Furbush added, “This is to recognize and encourage youth who perform good deeds that usually go unseen or unrewarded and to build a positive relationship between youth and police. We are hoping this program can encourage and recognize young people to continue to model positive behaviors in the community and serve as role models to their peers.”

The award program is a collaboration between the Colorado Youth Detention Continuum, Pueblo Police Department, and Communities that Care, a community coalition coordinated through the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment.
