11 weeks ago we began the 2020 season, prepared for an anomalous campaign and its many challenges.
60 games. New rules. Empty stadiums. Strict protocols. Content restrictions.
Baseball—and its daily operations—had changed.
From Summer Camp through Game 60, our goal on social media was to be real, raw and take you along with us on this unprecedented journey.
It’s always about the game, first and foremost, but much of the story of the 2020 season would have nothing to do with runs, hits and errors.
Social issues. Artificial crowd noise. Fan cutouts. Unique ballpark arrangements. New challenges and logistics. Debuts and arrivals. Retirements and departures.
2020 is a year to dog-ear in life’s scrapbook so we all can flip back to this unique moment, on and off the field.
Ultimately, the season ended earlier than we had planned. It is disappointing. It was unexpected. Things never quite clicked in unison.
But the guys played hard until the end and persisted earnestly. No quit. Our staff was incredible behind the scenes, making it all possible.
We missed you this season, but you were always with us. We felt your excitement. We felt your enthusiasm. Yes, we felt your frustration. We felt the love.
We’ll be back stronger in 2021; the work starts immediately. Be smart, be safe and be well until we can be together again.
