Remote Learning Through October 8th

October 6, 2020 2:10pm

The Salida School District will be on remote learning through Thursday October 8th.

We have planned and prepared for positive cases in the schools for months and have a strong response team comprised of school leaders and nurses, medical community, and public health.

Because case investigation and exposure notification is complex, there will be times that the entire school district, schools, and classrooms may have to pivot to online learning until we know more about the risk of spread. Some or all may have to quarantine for 14 days while others do not depending on risk.

The local public health system has been building greater capacity for testing and tracing. However, official quarantine requirements will remain in place.

Some activities that students participate in present greater risk of spread, such as riding the school bus, carpooling, after school activities, etc. which could impact the groups that are issued quarantine and those that are not.

As of right now, there is one student and one staff member who have tested positive in the school district. The cases appear to be unrelated at this time. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

Community and parents are reminded to download the school app as that is where the Salida Schools communicate changes first.

Additional information is available in the parent letter from Chaffee County Health, shared in previous communications also.

Please visit the school website for direct links to the above mentioned letter or links to download the app http://salida.ss13.sharpschool.com/…/remote_learning_throug…
